Why Bergies cold brew?

In my opinion, there is nothing like it.  Our cold brew is crafted by steeping our fresh roasted beans in cold water for an extended length of time.  This process brings out the best character our beans have to offer. The result is an ultra-smooth, satisfyingly rich and complex cup of cold brew.

The long soak in cold water allows time to extract the unique elements of the beans.  The absence of heat does not allow the extraction of bitter oils or the oxidation of chemical compounds present in the beans.

This results in a pleasantly smooth, much less acidic cup of coffee.  In fact, cold brewed coffee produces up to 66% less acid than hot water methods of brewing.  If you are prone to stomach issues, the lower acid content of cold brew may be just the answer you’re looking for.  Give it a try. Your taste buds and your stomach will thank you. Here at Bergies we import only the best beans from small farms from around the world. Our beans are always the freshest you can find.

Our beans from Peru are light bodied and mildly acidic with subtle notes of vanilla and nuts. The Papua New Guinea beans we enjoy in a darker roast.  It has a heavier body and clean notes of cherries and chocolate that lend well to the cold brewing method. Our artisan roasters blend the two together to bring you a truly unique taste experience.

Community, in my opinion is one of the things that make our town and our shop special. Here at Bergies it is part of our mission to foster that community feel with every customer that walks thru our doors. I hope you have experienced this personally.

Hosting a pop up, showcasing local artists and musicians, coffee education classes and trivia nights are only a few of the many events that help make us more than a coffee shop. Our community is the reason we strive to provide you more than just a great cup of coffee.

We are amazed at how our business has changed in the last seven years.  We will always remain committed to roasting great, small batch, artisan coffee daily. In addition to our daily business, the connection to our community continues to grow and enrich us. We love to see the appeal of our business to a multi-generational level. Seeing our customers taking time to enjoy relationships, have quiet time, or catch up with work projects affirms our desire to continue to create a unique coffee house environment.

In addition to our day to day operations, Brian and I have the priviledge to meet regularly with other Heritage District merchants and Gilbert town leaders to convey the input we receive directly from our customers regarding their thoughts on our district. We know that no matter what changes may be on the horizon, Bergies remains committed to fostering our community gathering place.

Ask Me About My Favorite Bergies Beans

Happy March the weather is certainly trying to make us believe its almost summer again! The good news is our garden is in full bloom and we have great shade on the patio for you to enjoy. No worries, our staff is always ready to serve you a great hot or cold drink depending on your mood or the weather.

To challenge our barista’s to be their best we are doing a March promotion with them to better educate our customers about our beans. You will see the staff wearing a t-shirt throughout the month that say “Ask me about my favorite Bergies beans” You can help us out by asking them this question. Their answer should not be “because it tastes good”. Of course this is a given, we love all of our beans. We love the opportunity to share our knowledge about the roasting process at Bergies and to educate you the customers about it too.
Since human nature seems to be to gravitate toward the same thing we would like to challenge you to branch out a bit and try something new. Of course we would love to sell you a pound but if you don’t want to make that commitment we always have half pounds and sampler sizes available.
A few suggestions if you would really like to treat yourself and you like something unique our Maui Mokka is a great choice.
This is a premium bean so it costs a little more but well worth it. It has very definite chocolate and tobacco notes that are
a treat to the taste buds! Also, for our cold brew lovers we are now selling our house blend cold brew beans for home preparation. Complete with simple instructions on how to prepare this favorite yourself.
In the shop we have updated our coffee display shelf for easier browsing and we are also working on new custom packaging that we hope will be on display very soon.
I certainly don’t want to leave out our tea drinkers. We are expecting a shipment any day of our great loose leafs that not only have our regular flavors but several new delicious teas made especially for the warmer time of year. Don’t forget we also sell our teas in tins for home consumption.
